What to Wear | Engagement

Dear Bride,

Are you not so sure what to wear for your engagement session? Occasionally my brides ask me what they should wear, what their fiance should wear and they say "Do you have any tips for hair and makeup?" or "How many outfits should I bring?". Well, this blog is written for you my friend! :)

I want every engagement shoot to look like it could be in a magazine, so feel free to bring things along that really reflect your fantastic personalities. The list is endless! Suggestions: Bikes, polaroid camera, a favorite journal, fun hairpieces. Anything! :) Don’t hesitate to bring anything that truly reflects you individually or as a couple.

A few helpful tips on outfits for TWO people instead of one...

The couple below, Chloe and Justin, did a great job pulling color from her skirt and making Justin's shirt that solid color.

Sometimes, ladies a solid top with a pop of color is super fun!

I can't say how much I love a white dress. Especially my bride Jess, here she is wearing this beautiful white lace dress with a skinny belt.

Just had to through this one (with the awesome car) in! :) Love the blue contrast with the orange car.

Amanda and Mitch had some really nice outfits. Love sweaters in the fall! :) Once again, neutrals are a great option in choosing for one of your outfits.

It is a great idea to have a classy outfit too. These make for a nice clean shot, that you can use on "Save the Date" cards or for your parent's walls.

Don't forget to be yourself!! It is super fun to do a stylized shoot, but keeping your personality in the images.

Some girls will have their practice run regarding hair and makeup for the engagement shoot. This helps them feel a little more ‘done-up’ for the shoot and boosts their confidence. I’m not saying you have to do this. However, what I can say is that in my experience shooting engagement sessions, girls want to feel pretty and confident...and sometimes spending a little extra time getting ready achieves just that. If you’d like recommendations, I’d be happy to pass a few a long who’ll take amazing care of you!

Below, you can see Katy had a makeup artist do her makeup a couple hours before our shoot, and it looks fantastic! It's great to get the chance to try out your makeup artist before your big day.

I always have to get a nice eyelash shot. :)

There you have it! Coordinating colors, around 3 outfits of choice, bring props if you would like and be YOU :)

Stay LOVELY!
